Oilfield Production Chemicals
Production problems: recognition, analysis and resolution.
3 Day Course
The Course
The production of oil and gas from underground reservoirs requires valuable input from engineers of many disciplines and from chemists, geologists and microbiologists. Personnel responsible for maintaining efficient production need to have a broad knowledge base in order to make appropriate decisions throughout field life. This course seeks to increase the awareness of production problems and techniques for the resolution of these problems. Although the course focuses on chemical techniques there is no presumption that attendees are trained chemists: the primary aim is to ensure that all persons working in this area know enough to make reasoned judgements or know when to seek specialist help.
The production and transport of oil and gas from underground to the refinery is complex and is differentiated from many industrial processes by the fact that the raw material varies in composition from day to day and from year to year. Brine produced with the valuable hydrocarbons is a waste product but contributes to many serious production difficulties. Delegates will learn to recognise conditions under which problems could occur and will learn why it is possible that the severity of any given problem can increase or decrease during field life. Delegates will also gain an understanding of how problems are resolved and will receive descriptions of many chemical product types that are used. Issues concerning the environmental impact of chemicals will be discussed as appropriate.
The course will impart knowledge and skills to a wide range of employees from differing disciplines and will motivate them to work together to achieve better performance
