Alan G Hunton

Alan has worked in the Oil Production business for 28 years. He is a graduate chemist and has held posts of Technical Project Leader within the oilfield chemicals business of BP Chemicals and was also a team leader at Akzo Nobel. Alan has experience in formulation, development and application of surfactant based chemical products. He has been heavily involved with the research and development of improved scale control products. He has written and co-authored a number of papers on oilfield chemicals.

Since 1991 Alan has run a successful consultancy business and has focussed on providing training programmes for teaching oilfield production chemistry. He is a visiting lecturer to Robert Gordon University and is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

Peter W Allison.
Peter has 30 years experience in various roles concerned with the use of speciality chemicals for oil and gas businesses. He has expertise in the specification, evaluation, development and management of chemical treatments. He held senior marketing positions within Akzo Chemical and BP Chemicals, was general manager for Dyno Oilfield Chemicals UK and international marketing manager for Dynea Oil Field Chemical and MI Production Chemicals.

Since 2003, Peter has worked as a consultant and been involved with several overseas projects for international oil companies. He is a member of the Institute of Corrosion, National Association of Corrosion Engineers and Society of Petroleum Engineers.

Stephen Maxwell
Stephen is a highly experienced microbiologist and was managing director of Commercial Microbiology Ltd., Aberdeen, until 2008. He has over 26 years experience particularly in biological monitoring and control, bacterial corrosion, reservoir souring, biocide testing and application, hydrocarbon spoilage and field monitoring.

Stephen has travelled extensively and has provided services to oilfield operators world-wide. He is a chartered biologist, a Fellow of the Institute of Petroleum, and a member of the Institute of Biology and the National Association of Corrosion Engineers.

Clayton Thomas
Clayton is a metallurgist and corrosion expert who is able to advise on all aspects of oilfield materials selection and corrosion protection. He has 20 year experience in providing services such as training, project support, failure analysis and litigation support.

His previous employment included a senior metallurgist role at Cooper-Cameron during which time he was able to work on a number of high profile and successful oilfield projects in the North Sea and elsewhere. He has authored several technical papers, is a member of the Institute of Corrosion and an Associate of the Royal School of Mines.

Don Ballance
Don has 30 years of experience working as an engineer in the oil production industry. He has an excellent knowledge of the application of oilfield chemicals including dosing systems and process equipment. He has worked in marketing roles for chemical service companies with responsibility for oilfield chemicals deployment and has offshore experience with a major oil company. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the National Association of Corrosion Engineers and has co-authored several papers.
